It is with deepest regret that we are writing to inform you that the Crime Victims Advocacy Council (CVAC) is NOT holding an annual Memorial Service this year, as previously held at First United Baptist Church in Decatur, GA.

We remain committed to providing you with the support and assistance needed after experiencing the loss of a loved one to a homicide or DUI accident. It is a terrible tragedy, and CVAC hopes you will join us in honoring your loved one with a written Memorial Tribute.

CVAC believes in restorative healing and writing about your loved one is a way to cope with loss. With your permission, we will post your tribute on our website, and Facebook. We hope that honoring your loved one this way will help you as you continue along your healing path.

In addition, National Crime Victim’s Rights Week is April 8 -14, 2018. On Sunday, April 8, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, CVAC will display our Memorial Walls with the names of those murdered in Metro Atlanta from 1991 to 2017. They will be on display in the CVAC office and you are welcome to visit and place a flower at the foot of the wall with your loved one’s name. Rev. Cook and others will be there to offer prayer and support. It is a time to stand united as crime survivors. We hope you will pay tribute to your loved one during this special week along with crime survivors across the country.

Support groups

CVAC offers support groups on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 pm -9:00 pm at our offices located at the Vinings United Methodist Church, 3101 Paces Mill Rd., Atlanta, GA 30339 and on Thursdays from 7-8:30PM at First Baptist Church, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur, GA30038. The group sessions are for crime survivors to discuss their problems and arrive at solutions together. We also provide spiritual healing and can assist you with filling out victim compensation claims, victim impact statements, and requests for victim notification. Please call us for an appointment.
